Background: My parents put me on the ice as soon as I could walk and I have been playing organized hockey since I can remember - starting with the “Mighty Mites” and up to high school - at which point I switched to specialize in lacrosse. I played lacrosse in college and then professionally with the Long Island Lizards.
I'm from a very athletic family: my grandfather played semi-professional hockey in Montreal; my father and sister both played hockey at Brown University; and my brother played lacrosse at Amherst College.
I live in LA now with my amazing partner, Jamie, who does not play sports but he is quite talented in the arts (he is a writer on the NBC show Parenthood).
Best hockey experience: My best hockey experience was not about me, but my sister. My family flew to Finland for a week during the winter (when there is no sunlight) because my sister was representing Team USA in the women’s hockey Four Nation’s Cup between the US, Canada, Sweden and Finland. It was an unbelievable feeling to watch her wear the jersey of the national team.
As for an experience involving me, it would be winning the fastest skater competition at a tournament in Montreal when I was ten and getting a stick signed by Maurice “The Rocket” Richard. My mother somehow turned the signed stick into the curtain rod across the top of my bedroom window, which I thought was pretty creative.
Favorite NHL team: I do not follow the NHL but the last time I had a favorite team it was the Boston Bruins
Favorite NHL player: Chris Drury because I grew up attending Boston University hockey games with my dad. Every year for my birthday, we would take 5-10 of my friends to a BU-BC rivalry game. Drury was the best player during that era and he won the Hobey Baker award and then the next year won the NHL Rookie of the year award. Not bad for a guy who had previously pitched Trumbull, CT (representing the US) to a victory in the Little League World Series over in Chinese Taipei.
Pets: Farber, Dave
Favorite place you’ve visited: Dartmouth/Hanover, New Hampshire
Favorite beverage: Sam Adams Summer Ale
Favorite sport outside of hockey: Lacrosse
If I could eat anything it would be . . . Maine lobster.
If I could be anywhere right now it would be . . . right beside my favorite guy anywhere in the world.
When I step on the ice, I feel . . . like a seven-year-old kid at 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning with my parents cheering from the stands.
